Apparently there was a bit of a bug during Destiny 2’s Lootapalooza event that was causing too much loot in the palooza. The freely handed out engrams that were a part of the event had been temporarily shut off just a day after the event kicked off thanks to an exploit that was discovered by players.
The cheesing in question apparently could not be easier: Players simply claim their free event engram, then delete a character on their account, and then log back in and claim another free engram. This trick would let players gather up the freebies so long as they kept making and deleting characters over and over again. What’s important to bear in mind that these engrams didn’t grant weapons or armor – only a bunch of cosmetics like weapon skins, emotes, or vehicles.
Since the engram cutoff affected everyone, the decision was rousing some frustration among players while others simply rolled their eyes at yet another bug in the shooter. And while the free daily handout returned about a day later with the promise of another free engram to be handed out once Edge of Fate launches, players are still unhappy, suggesting in the announcement tweet and on Reddit to remove the engram cap. So evidently no fun allowed.
