Yesterday was at least supposed to be the debut of a trio of new 64-bit servers for Dungeons and Dragons Online. And if you put a bet on the transfer process not going quite as smoothly as hoped, especially after the protracted mess of LOTRO’s own 64-bit relocations this past spring, know that Vegas and reality put the odds in your favor.
Play DDO for freeIndeed, SSG pulled back from opening the new worlds on Tuesday afternoon, saying, “We are taking a pause on plans to open the new worlds and offer transfers today. The worlds will be reopening like usual and we’ll work on something like a game build to address a few issues that came up during our pre-open checks.”
As of Wednesday morning, DDO players are still in a holding pattern. SSG is indicating that it “could be Thursday morning” but will try to confirm that today.
“We are working to debut our new 64-bit game worlds and enable free character transfers as quickly as we can, and we expect to have further guidance on timing within the next 24 hours,” the devs said. “One of the changes we are making requires a change in our transfer process and guidance, which is that when transfers and worlds are available, characters will not be able to pack until they have removed items from their Reincarnation Cache.”
