Ladies and gentleorcs, it’s time for another round of our cult favorite game show that ends with a preposition, MMOs (and MMO-adjacent multiplayer games) You’ve Never Heard Of!
Our first contestant is Under a Rock, a colorful upcoming multiplayer survival adventure for PC and consoles that’s been picking up steam on, erm, Steam. It’s “a procedural open-world survival craft game for 1-10 players. Explore a primitive but dangerous place with a different evolutionary path; here, wildlife is oversized, Neanderthals still exist, and curses are real.”
That not your bag? No worries, for our next contestant is sauntering down the aisle right now! That’s right, it’s Owlcat Games’ Blind Descent, a new co-op sci-fi survival title underneath the Martian surface; it’s aiming to go into early access next year. It’s notable the some of the ideas and visual style are being adopted from TV’s Scavengers Reign by its production designer, Jon Juarez.
“After a catastrophic mission failure, a lone survivor awakens in a vast, alien ecosystem. What begins as a desperate search for missing crew members evolves into a journey of symbiosis with a world that resists, adapts, and remembers,” the Turkish studio says.
Enough of the survival sandboxes, you say? You want a full-blooded action MMO for PC and mobile? That’s why we’ve invited our final contestant to the stage, Honor of Kings: World!
This is an MMO spinoff of Tencent’s MOBA Honor of Kings that spotlights engaging combat where players can switch back-and-forth between two fighting styles (out of 11) on the fly.
