Lord of the Rings Online players got a taste of their imminent future this past weekend thanks to a new studio roadmap letter that covered the next few months of 2025. Lead Systems Designer Orion didn’t fully reveal this fall’s expansion, but he did speak to its major features and other systems in the works for improvement.

This is the first of many updates we hope to make to the Kinship System over the course of the next year and beyond.”
Orion also spoke about Update 45’s PvP changes, the next batch of birding hobby additions, more use for Embers, and hinted at trap fishing and a “refresh of the featured instance system” coming earlier next year. He said that the unnamed expansion, coming in Q4 2025, includes a level cap increase to 160, four zones, a new raid and instance cluster, and the next chapter for the ongoing Song of Waves and Wind story.
