This weekend sees yet another injection of content to Star Citizen, as alpha 4.2.1 officially arrived this week with a headlining new event, a new ship and weapon, and a variety of adjustments for those flinging themselves around in the game’s internet spaceships.

The event in question is focused on Stanton’s four megacorps and their race to secure enough resources to solve the regeneration crisis and make their mark on the galaxy. Gameplay-wise, this translates into a variety of hauling and procuring missions, either by space trucking, finding cargo from derelicts, or plucking things from enemy-guarded POIs, which in turn fills up wider progress bars for each corporation and individual progress bars that unlock five tiers’ worth of cosmetic, armor, and weapon rewards.

The patch also officially adds the RSI Meteor combat ship that CIG showcased earlier, along with the new ship escort mission type, updated Wikelo recipes, improvements to PvP interdiction, the new rapid-firing Volt pulse pistol weapon, and some firmed-up NPC security in safe zones.

Finally of note is another round of flight model tweaks, with a minor improvement to large ship maneuvering, a more “comprehensive” tuning pass for medium fighters, and updates to speed and angular rotation for medium-sized gun boats. There are other updates and bug fixes applied as well, which are detailed in the patch notes linked above.
