After much teasing, The Edge of Fate is finally live in Destiny 2 this afternoon, delivering the first chunk of content to the Year of Prophecy that marks Bungie’s new multi-year content cadence.

“Available now, The Edge of Fate introduces the new destination Kepler and a new campaign, alongside major core game updates which are available to all players,” the studio says. “In The Edge of Fate, Guardians are reintroduced to the mysterious Nine and confront an ancient threat that predates the Traveler. With help from Lodi, a new ally from a distant place, and the Warlock Vanguard Ikora Rey, players will uncover long-buried secrets and begin a journey that reshapes their understanding of the Destiny universe.”

Kepler itself features four regions and new region-specific abilities, plus players can engage with the new world tier system with its higher difficulties and scaled rewards as well as the overhauled armor system and new Portal LFG system. The new raid, called Desert Perpetual, opens on Saturday.

As Bungie has previously laid out, the game’s new content cadence will now consist of multi-year arcs with two paid expansions and two free updates; the next free content update, Ash and Iron, arrives September 9th, followed by the next paid expansion, Renegades, on December 2nd – Renegades being the Star Wars crossover.
