Skull and Bones brings the frigate, megaforts, and a faction fight in the Oaths of War update

This week has brought some big things to Skull and Bones, and not only because there’s a bunch of new content to play with the Oaths of War update that’s now online. We mean literally sizable things such as a big new ship and some big new forts to attack.

The new ship is, of course, the frigate, which Ubisoft Singapore has been highlighting in the lead-up to this patch. This new ship fields a huge number of weapons and the ability to help tank hits for friendly smols at the cost of lowered maneuverability and more weak points that see the ship take more damage if hit in the right spots during a PvP fight.

Speaking of fights, the update also features a king-sized PvE challenge in the form of the megafort, a near-impregnable location that houses valuable ascension materials but will most certainly unleash all kinda of defenses to protect those materials. It shouldn’t be a surprise to learn that this content will likely require a group as well as some preparation.

The update is also marked by a new factional aspect that will go live mid-season that sees players siding with either the French or Dutch to engage in war games, earn war assets, and take part in invasions to support their faction, as well as a way for players to either remain loyal to their side or go turncoat after every battle phase.

The patch notes outline further additions like multiple tweaks to sailing that focus on wind direction, sail type, optimal stamina use, and better preserved momentum; some easier to see loot beams and map UI; consolidation of several seasonal currencies into a single one known as gildmarks; and a lengthy list of balance updates. Just like some of the in-game things, these notes are pretty beefy, so get cozy if you’re going to thumb through them.
