Last week we reported on how Escape from Tarkov really emphasized the “hard” in its hardcore wipe update, which saw the extraction shooter put the screws to its players with forced transit to different maps and some extremely stingy balancing that caused an uproar among many fans. The past few days have since seen the game walk back some of those adjustments in an attempt to hopefully maintain its more intense bite without forgetting that some convenience is kind of nice as well.
Adjustments started coming in through last week like reduced insurance costs, the return of in-game tasks, a reduction in boss spawns from 100% to 70% to give solo and small group players a bit of a fighting chance in maps, and perhaps most importantly, the ability for players to select the locations they want to from the jump once again instead of being forced to ride digital trains from only two maps.
The most recent update brought back more tasks and trader loyalty levels, while Battlestate studio head Nikita Buyanev promises that more of these will continue to come back. When he’s not telling fans to shut the fuck up, anyway. Stay classy, Battlestate!
