While MOP’s Eliot has already discussed gacha games at a design and monetization level in his excellent Gachapwned mini-series, the fact is that we do report on these titles here at MOP, particularly those that fall into our general radar. To that point, three of the biggies have put out some large headlines that we’re collecting here in one place for your convenience. We’re calling it Gacha Banner. We’ll begin with Wuthering Waves and the next content update slated for Thursday, July 24th, known as Unfading Melody of Life. This update will bring two new main quests, the new Fabricatorium of the Deep location, a new character known as Phrolova, and another round of new echoes, along with quality-of-life features like the option to turn off special character cast music and automatic tuners when upgrading echoes.

Meanwhile in Genshin Impact, the summertime season will be in full force with the Sunspray Summer Resort update that lands on Wednesday, July 30th. As one might expect, this update will focus on summery fun at the newly opened Easybreeze Holiday Resort island in Natlan with lots of seasonal events to unlock goodies like a new four-star claymore, a new storm-wielding character known as Ineffa, and some brief in-game tutorial videos when trying out new characters. Hoyoverse is also launching a game art expo in France this September.

Finally, we’ve got some pretty major news from Tower of Fantasy’s Chinese version, which is working on a so-called “Warped Server” that primarily leans into the RPG’s more MMO-like features and eschews most of its gacha systems. That means weapons are free and not pulled for, an auction house for player trading will be available, and additional social features like more co-op activities, guild bases, and better rewards for engaging in multiplayer content will be added. This new server, which will follow a seasonal content release model, is planned to open to the region in August, but there are currently no plans for a wider release yet.
